HomeMy Public PortalAboutFurther_Recs_Subgroup1 Further Recommendations From the Sub-group One: Linnell, Mant’s, Paine’s Creek Strategy To ensure transparency and the spirit of a collaborative, community based process focused on coastal access and management, with the goals of building climate resiliency, protecting natural resources and managing peak summer demand on our beaches, we recommend that a protocol be established to ensure public engagement in the design and implementation of any coastal projects in progress or to be undertaken in the future by the Board of Selectmen. This protocol should, at a minimum, require reasonable, advance public notice of all meetings and negotiations where plans for coastal projects are being designed, discussed and/or presented. This protocol would require the designation of a ‘citizens coastal liaison committee’ (CCLC) to work hand in hand with the Board of Selectmen to plan, design and implement coastal access and management projects. Plan: Explore with the BCAG appropriate protocols, i.e., appropriate notice could include, but not be limited to, advertisement for consecutive weeks in local newspapers, postings in public places and due notice on the Town of Brewster web-site of all meetings pertaining to the above. Liaison Committee: The Citizens Coastal Liaison Committee (CCLC) could be proposed and appointed by the Town (or by the Coastal Committee?) for a period of two years and going forward be appointed by the Coastal Committee in partnership with the Brewster Community Network. (or recommended to the Town to be formally appointed?)
