RESOLUTION N0. 71-57
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNG100D, CALIFORD;IA AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF
AN APFLICATION FOR FUNDING UNDER THE �MBRGENCY
, EMPLOYMENT ACT OF 1971.
WHEREAS, tne United States Governmer.t has adopted �he
Energency I�,mployment Act of 1971; and
WHEREAS, this Act is designed to provide transitional
employment during tir:ies of high unemployment for low,income persons
who are unable to retain employment and for persons vaho have become
unemployed as a result'of technological changes; and
WHEREAS, during times of high unemployment, it is appropriate
to fill unmet needs for public services i.n such fields as public
� safety, environmental quality, maintenance of streets, parks, and
other public facilities, crirne prevention and other fields of public
improvement; and
WHEREAS, this program will assist in meeting the unmet' public
needs of the City of Lynwood;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA,.DOES RESOLVE AS FOLL041S:
Section l. The City Council hereby agrees to p,articipate in
the Emergency Employment Progs°am of 1971 and accepts the responsibility
of Sub-Yrogram`Agent of the County of I,os Angeles.
Section 2. The City Manager is instructed to submit the
application to the County of Los Angeles and the United States Department

of Labor and is further instructed to take appropriate steps to
obtain initial funds, and the Mayor is authorized to sign the Grant
Agreement to implement the initial phase of this program.
Section 3. The City Manager is instructed to prepare a
Full Funding Application and to implement the Emergency Employment
Program in Lynwood.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 31st day of August, 1971.
