CITY OF TEMPLE CITY
TEMPLE CITY CALIFORNIA
APRIL 21 , 1964
OLD COUNCIL:
INITIATION:
1 . Mayor Nunamaker called the meeting to order at 7: 30 P. M. City
2 . Manager Woollett nave the invocation followed by the Pledge of

4. ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Councilmen-Dickason , Merritt , Tyrell , Nunamaker
ABSENT: Councilman-Fitzjohn
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager I400llett , Jr.
� . The City Manager advised for the purpose of canvassing the votes
we have divided the talley books among the Councilmen to check
the votes cast with the talley sheet figures on the tabulation
record of all votes cast. Following this canvass The City Mana-
ger presented Resolution No. 64-363 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUN-
CIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY , CALIFORNIA , RECITING THE FACT OF
THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF TEMPLE CITY
ON THE 14th DAY OF APRIL, 1964, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND
SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW. Councilman Tyrelf
moved to adopt Resolution No. 64-363 , Councilman Merritt seconded,
carried by the following called vote:
AYES: Councilmen-Dickason, Merritt , Tyrell , Nunamaker
NOES: Councilmen-None
ABSENT: Councilman-Fitzjohn
7 . At this time the newly elected Councilmen, Jack R. Tyrell , and
William A. Harker , were called forward and City Clerk 'oollett
administered the Oath of Office and presented each of them with
an Election Certificate.
8. At this time the newly elected Councilmen took their seats at the
Council table. Councilman Harker expressed appreciation to all
who supported him and stated he would strive to his utmost to
serve 'Chem well , and thanked them very much.
NEW COUNC I L: .
9. ELECTION OF MAYOR:
Councilman Tyrell nominated Lou Merritt for Mayor. Councilman
Harker seconded. Councilman Tyrell moved the nominations be
closed , Councilman Harker seconded and carried. Councilman Tyrell
moved they cast a unanimous ballot for Lou Merritt , Councilman
Dickason seconded, and carried.
10. ELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM:
Councilman Tyrell nominated William A. Harker as Mayor Pro Tem,
Councilman Merritt seconded. Councilman Tyrell moved nominations
be closed, Councilman Dickason seconded, and a unanimous ballot
was cast for Afilliam A. Harker as Mayor Pro Tem.
11 . Mayor Merritt took the chair. He requested Councilman Nunamaker
to act as alternate representative for the Sanitation District ,
and which Councilman Nunamaker accepted.
12. Councilman Tyrell moved that Mayor Merritt remain as a member of
• the Finance Committee as Council representative, Councilman Dicka-
son seconded , and carried.
13. Mayor Merritt appointed William A. Harker to the League of Calif.
Cities as Council representative, which he accepted.
14. Mayor Merritt stated Councilman Tyrell is a Vice-Pres, of Calif.
Contract Cities and appointed him to represent the City at their

meetings to which he agreed.
15. Mayor Merritt appointed Councilman Tyrell as Council representa-
tive on the Civil Defense Committee which he accepted.
16. Mayor Merritt appointed Councilman Dickason as Council representa-
tive on the Library Board, which he also accepted.
Councilman Tyrell moved all appointments be approved, Councilman
Nunamaker seconded, and carried by the following called vote:
AYES: Councilmen-Dickason , Harker, Nunamaker, Tyrell , Merritt
NOES: Councilmen-None
ABSENT: Councilmen-None
17. TIME FOR THOSE IN THE AUDIENCE '',rel i SH TO SPEAK:
No one came forward to speak.
13, MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS:
City Manager Woollett presented Resolution No. 64-362, RESOLUTION
OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING A REPORT UNDER
THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT INVESTIGATION, LIMITATION AND MAJORITY
PROTEST ACT OF 1931 , (Vehicle Parkins? District #1 ) . The City
Manager advised the Petition sufficient under the law and in ex-
cess of the requirement and recommended adoption of this Resolu-
tion which requests a report. Councilman Dickason so moved,
Councilman Harker seconded, roll call vote to carry as follows:
AYES: Councilmen-Dickason, Harker, Nunamaker, Tyrell , Merritt
NOES: Councilmen-None
ABSENT: Councilmen-None
The City Manager requested authorization of expenditure of $93.62
for changing two doors in the new City Hall to Dutch doors and
revised hardware. Councilman Tyrell so moved, Councilman Nunamak-
er seconded, roll call vote to carry as follows:
AYES: Councilmen-Dickason, Harker, Nunamaker, Tyre] ] , Merritt
NOES: Councilmen-None
ABSENT: Councilmen-None
The City Manager advised he received an Agreement from Fickes
& Fickes with respect to work they are doing for us on Temple City
Park and requested authorization to sign on behalf of the City.
The Agreement simply agrees to pay by the hour for services.
Councilman Dickason so moved, Councilman Nunamaker seconded, roll
call vote to carry as follows:
AYES: Councilmen-Dickason , Harker , Nunamaker, Tyrell , Merritt
NOES: Councilmen-None
ABSENT: Councilmen-None
Councilman Tyrell moved to grant the three day extension requested
on new City Hall construction due to inclement weather, Councilman
Harker seconded, and carried.
Councilman Nunamaker stated he had received several complaints
that the lunch and ice cream trucks are still parking in the
school area. The City Manager will follow up on this .
The City Manager announced the Councilmen were all invited to
Cloverly school following adjournment to be judges in a beauty
contest.
19. Councilman Tyrell moved to adjourn and carried. Council adjourned.
at 8: 05 P . M. until the regular meeting to be held on April 27,
