HomeMy Public PortalAbout1998-0059 Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.98-05 RESOLUTION DENYING A VARIANCE FOR A SIGN FOR MCDONALD'S CORPORATION WHEREAS, McDonald's Corporation (the "Applicant") owns and operates a restaurant located in the northwest quadrant of T.H. 55 and Co. Rd. 116 (the "Property"), which Property is legally described in Exhibit A attached hereto; and WHEREAS, the Applicant requested permission to construct a pylon sign containing a total of 108.3 square feet of surface area per face, as defined by the city's zoning ordinance; and WHEREAS, the city's zoning ordinance limits the area per pylon sign face to 100 sq. ft.; and WHEREAS, a variance is necessary in order for the Applicant to construct its sign as requested; and WHEREAS, this matter was considered by the planning commission at its meeting on December 9, 1997, and by the city council at its meeting on December 16, 1997; and WHEREAS, the Applicant acknowledges that it could construct a smaller sign or could install the reader board on a separate pylon and be in compliance with the city's zoning ordinance without the need for a variance. NOW, '1'111:REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina, Mumesota, that the variance requested by the Applicant is hereby denied because compliance with the city's zoning ordinance in this instance does not constitute a hardship to this Property.
