HomeMy Public PortalAbout15-8963 Procurement Selection CommitteesSponsored by: Mayor Taylor RESOLUTION NO. 15-8963 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO DIVERSIFY THE MAKE UP OF CITY OF OPA -LOCKA PROCURMENT SELECTION COMMITTEES AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO DRAFT AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY'S PROCUREMENT CODE TO UPDATE AND REVISE THE CODE IN ORDER TO REQUIRE DIVEERSITY IN THE SELECTION PROCESS AND TO CODIFY PRIOR DIRECTIVES OF THIS COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITIALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Opa -locka must always insure that it procurement process and fair and transparent; and WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that a diversified selection committee is consistent with the goals of our City's procurement process; and WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that all selection committee shall include no more than two members of City staff and also include personnel who have expertise from other cities and the private sector; and WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that it is important the City Attorney and the Town Clerk codify prior Resolutions into the City's Code to avoid confusion or misapplication of the Commissions directives. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Resolution No. 15 -8963 Section 2. The City Commission hereby directs the City Manager to place no more than two members of City staff on any selection committee and to utilize experts from other cities and the private sector to provide a balanced approach to these committees; Section 3. The City Commission also directs the City Attorney to have his office and his staff work with the City Clerk in codifying all prior Resolutions of this Commission in the area of procurement into the City Code; Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 131h day of April' 2015.
