HomeMy Public PortalAbout15-8965 Temporary Closing of Street Lanes and Providing Police PresenceSponsored by: Vice Mayor Holmes RESOLUTION NO. 15 -8965 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOS- ING OF STREET LANES AND PROVIDING POLICE PRE - SENSE DURING A ONE DAY COMMUNITY BEAUTIFIACTION EVENT ON ALI BABA AVENUE; PROVIDING FOR INCORPO- RATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, Opa -locka Community Development Corporation, Inc. ( OLCDC) has re- tained the services of nationally recognized landscape architect Walter Hood to design and help implement a community beautification project on Ali Baba Avenue., and WHEREAS, the project involves the undertaking of paint work at key locations along the portion of Ali Baba Avenue from Robert Ingram Elementary School to the Tri Rail Station as out- lined and highlighted in a previously prepared concept paper entitled "Oasis /Oases: A Concep- tual Proposal for Opa- locka" dated April 25, 2014 (the "Site /Cite" proposal); and WHEREAS, Mr. Hood has completed the schematic design and fabrication drawings and the next step is the actual painting event scheduled Saturday April 18, 2015 (the "Painting Event "); and WHEREAS, The work at the Painting Event will be done by volunteers organized by "Miami Rise" which a team of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce's Leadership -Miami 2015 class that has partnered with OLCDC. Mr. Hood will be on -site to supervise the painting work; and WHEREAS, the City of Opa -locka desires to partner with OLCDC and Miami Rise to help insure that the objectives of the Painting Event are achieved. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals in the above preamble are incorporated herein by this refer- ence. Resolution No. 15 -8965 Section 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager and the City's staff to cooperate and collaborate with OLCDC to help insure that the objectives of the Painting Event are achieved. Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 13th day of April, 2015.
