HomeMy Public PortalAbout1998-01121 Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.98-11 RESOLUTION GRANTING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO SUBURBAN HENNEPIN REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT TO REPLACE A STORAGE BARN WHEREAS, the Suburban Hennepin Regional Park District (the "Applicant") owns and operates Baker Regional Park which includes Baker National Golf Course; and WHEREAS, for many years there existed an old red barn near the golf course which served as a storage facility and which was damaged in a wind storm in July, 1997; and WHEREAS, the Applicant wishes to replace the barn with a new structure of similar size and appearance for the purpose of cold storage; and WHEREAS, the city's zoning ordinance requires that a conditional use permit be granted to the Applicant prior to being able to replace the barn; and WHEREAS, following review by the planning commission at its meeting on January 13, 1998, and by the city council at its meeting on January 20, 1998, it has been determined that Applicant's proposal to replace the barn will not adversely affect the use and development of adjacent properties for purposes for which they are zoned. NOW, 'THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of Medina, Minnesota, that a conditional use permit be granted to the Applicant to reconstruct the storage barn near the Baker National Golf Course, subject to the following terms and conditions: 1. The barn shall be no greater than two stories in height with a maximum footprint of 1,800 square feet; 2. Any exterior lighting must be designed and installed so that the globe is recessed and enclosed on all sides except the bottom and no light is cast directly on any other RHB137285 ME230-271 98-11 02-03-98 22 property or right-of-way; 3. Because of the limit accessibility of the facility, no heating equipment may be used or installed in the barn; 4. The barn must have a shingled roof and be wood -sided; 5. The barn may not be used for any purpose other than cold storage; 6. The barn must be constructed to meet all building and fire codes; 7. There shall be no outside bells or loudspeakers on or near the barn; 8. If there is an old cistern near the building, it must be abandoned and filled in accordance with state requirements; 9. The milk house must be removed; 10. The old chimney must be removed; 11. No outside storage shall be allowed at this site and the debris from the old barn must be cleaned up and removed from the area; and 12. The Applicant must pay to the city an administrative fee in an amount sufficient to reimburse the city for the cost of reviewing this application. Dated: February 3,1998.
