SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL A-2555
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill A-2555, released by the Assembly Housing & Local Government
Committee, permits free municipal library funding to be based on actual requirements instead of
fixed statutory tax rate; and
'WHEREAS, as such, A-2555, would eliminate the 1/3 of a mill required appropriation for the
funding of free municipal libraries, and instead base the annual appropriation on the actual
amount deemed necessary for the proper maintenance of the library by the municipal governing
body; and
'VHEREAS, the New Jersey League of Municipalities strongly supports A~2555 as released and
has requested that all of its members go on record similarly supporting the ~ame.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borougb of
Carteret, County of Middlesex, State ofNe...\' Jersey, as follows:
1. That the Borougb of Carteret hereby supports Assembly Bill A-2555 released by
the Assembly Housing & Local Government Committee.
2. That a. copy of this Resolution be forwarded to oill sponsor, Assemblyman John
DiM"aio and Chairman of the Assembly Housing and Local Government
Committee Assemblyman Jerry Green.
3. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the New Jersey Lea.:,oue of
Municipalities.
