RESOLUTION NO. 15-8973
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER AND THE CITY ATTORNEY TO FILE SUIT
AGAINST THE OWNERS OF THE CUYAHOGA
PROPERTY IN ORDER TO RECOUP AND FORECLOSE
ON LIENS IN THE AMOUNT OF $253,555.53 AND TO
CLEAN UP THE PROPERTY; PROVIDING FOR
INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Opa -locka has recorded liens on the property known as
the Cuyahoga site in the City; and
WHEREAS, the liens now total $253,555.53 per the attached spread sheet, which
is exhibit "1'; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the outstanding liens, the site has environmental
contamination which poses a health threat to the citizens of Opa- locka; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Opa -locka seek
to ensure that there be remediation of the environmental hazards and wish to
begin the process by bringing suit against the current owners of the property.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa -locka hereby directs the
City Attorney and the City Manager to forthwith initiate legal action against the current
owners of the Cuyahoga property owners both to collect the outstanding liens and to

force the owner to clean up the property from any environmental contamination. The
Manager and Attorney's shall report back the results of their efforts within sixty days.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
