HomeMy Public PortalAbout1998-02451 Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. 98-24 RESOLUTION GRANTING SETBACK VARIANCE FOR TOM UNDERWOOD AND LORRI UNDERWOOD AT 1325 ELSINORE CIRCLE WHEREAS, Tom Underwood and Lorri Underwood (the "Applicants") are the fee owners of the property located at 1325 Elsinore Circle, legally described as Lot 2, Block 3, Medina Morningside according to the plat on file in Hennepin County, Minnesota (the "Property"); and WHEREAS, the Applicants wish to construct an addition to their existing house on the Property by adding a garage and bedroom space; and WHEREAS, the Property is located at the corner of Morningside Drive and Elsinore Circle; and WHEREAS, the required front yard setback from both streets is 30 feet while the Applicants wish to be able to construct the addition within 25 feet of the front lot line along Morningside Drive; and WHEREAS, the city's zoning ordinance requires a variance under these circumstances; and WHEREAS, this matter was reviewed by the planning commission at its meeting on April 14, 1998 at which time the planning commission recommended granting the Applicants a five-foot front yard setback variance; and WHEREAS, this matter was reviewed by the city council at its meeting of May 5, 1998. NOW, 'THEREFORE, BE PT RESOLVED by the city council of the City of Medina, Minnesota that a variance be granted to the Applicants for the Property to allow a reduction in required front yard setback from 30 feet to 25 feet along Momingside Drive for construction of the addition as RHB143390 ME230-8 98-24 05-19-98 52 depicted in the plans and drawings submitted by the Applicants to the city. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the city council that the above variance is consistent with others which have been granted for corner lots in the Medina Morningside neighborhood.
