A RF.SOLUTION OF THE CITY COU.VCIL OF THE
CITI' OF LYNWOOD URGING THE LOS ANGELES
COUNTY BO.�RD OF SUPERVISORS TO CONDUCT
A COMPREHENSIVE INaUIRY INTO THE COST OF
LAW ENFORCEMNET SERVICES SUPPL�D B'Y THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIF`F1 S DEPAR'Ii�NT
TO CONTRACT CITIES
WHEREAS, the Los Angelea Count3 Grand Jur;� recently
received a report from an independe;�t accou�tin� firm w'�ich
diacloaed. that contrsct cities in the Los Angeles County have
not paid the full cost law enforcement services provided to
t:�em b� the Los Angeles County Sheriffts Department; and
WHEREAS, this condition w�s created becanse all expenses
incurred in supplying this ser�ica to cities under c•�ntract with
the County wzte not included in the charges made to these cities
and this resulted in a shiftinJ of a part of the cost to all
taxpayera of Los An�eles County causing a disproportionate tax
assessment on rasidents of independent cities of Los Angeles
County unrelated to the services received from tne County; and,
WI�REAS, the County Board of Supervisors has requested
the County Administrstive Officer to provide it with information
concerninj the cost of supplying law enforcement services to
contract cities of Los AnPeles County;
NOW, Tt3EREFORE, '�lZe City Council of the City of LynWOOd
resolves as follows:
Section 1. That the City Council of the Cit;� of
Lynwoo� respectfully urges the Los Angeles Count;� Board of
Supervisors to implement Report No. 2 to The Grsnd Jury for 1969
oa the cost of providing law enforcement for contract cities.

Section 2. That the City Council of the Cit� of
Lyn�ood respectfully urges the Los Angeles County Board of
Supervisors to complete its study and report in suf£icient time
that necessary ch.snjes may b°come effective in the 1970-71 fiscal
year.
Section 3. That the City Clerk b�, and is hereby
authorized. and directed, to forwerd a certified copy of this
resolution to t�e Clerk of the $oard of Superaisors of Los
Angeles Count� and to each memb2r of the Board, addressed to
the Board of Administration, 500 West Temple Stre2t, Los Angeles,
California 90012.
