RESOLUTION NO. 2010.188
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF MEASURE R FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT
OF $16,406 TO PAY FOR THE PREPARATION OF A SUBREGIONAL
SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES STRATEGIES IN COMPLIANCE WITH SB 375
WHEREAS, SB 375, also known as California's Sustainable Communities
Strategy and Climate Protection Act, is a State law which became effective January 1,
2009; and
WHEREAS, SB 375 seeks to reduce passenger and light truck vehicle miles
traveled, and green house gas emissions and requires the development of a
Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS} as part of the Regiona( Transportation Plan
(RTP), and
WHEREAS, preparation of a subregional SCS will permit GCCOG to fully
present its achievemenfs and the achievements of the individual cities in reducing green
house gas emission, increase local control and certainty, and provide programs that are
appropriate for the subregion, and '
WHEREAS, on January 6, 2010, the GCCOG Board of Directors voted to accept
delegation from SCAG under SB 375 to develop a subregional SCS, contingent upon
ratification by a majority of the member city councils, and
WHEREAS, on February 2, 2010, the City Council authorized the City's
participation in the preparation of the subregional SCS, and
WHEREAS, the cost to prepare a subregional SCS is an allowable expense
under Measure R Local Return Funds for it funds and supports the creation of
sustainability strategies to lower vehicle miles traveled through the initiation of a
subregional SCS
NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the appropriation of $16,406 from
the unappropriated Measure R Funds for the preparation of the subregional SCS
Section 2. The City Clerk shali certify to the passage and adoption of this
Resolution.
