RESOLUTION NO. 15-9003
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE
RENAMING OF ALLAPATTAH MIDDLE SCHOOL AFTER
GEORGIA AYERS; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION
OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Georgia Ayers dedicated her life to changing and bettering the
lives of the young people of Miami-Dade, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the impact of Georgia Ayers's dedication and commitment to the
Miami-Dade Community can never measured.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED THAT THE CITY
COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF OPA LOCAK, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City of Opa-Locka strongly supports the renaming of the
Allapattah Middle School after Georgia Ayers, and encourages the Miami-
Dade County School Board to make such change.
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this
Resolution to the Miami-Dade County School Board and any sub-committee
thereof.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 27th day of May, 2015.
