RESOLUTION NO. 15-9013
A RESOLUTION OF THE OPA-LOCKA CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO IMPLEMENT A "KEEP OPA-
LOCKA BEAUTIFUL PROGRAM"; DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY ACTIONS TO
IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM IN ORDER TO CREATE AND
SUSTAIN A CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITY
WHERE RESIDENTS AND VISITORS CAN LIVE, WORK
AND PLAY; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF
RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-Locka ("City") is dedicated to preserving and enhancing
the quality of life of its residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that creating and sustaining clean and beautiful
neighborhoods with well-maintained infrastructure, enhances resident quality of life and can
also promote growth in economic development; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission encourages the establishment locally of the Keep
Miami Beautiful Program, to assist in making the City a cleaner, healthier, and safer place in
which to live, work and play; and
WHEREAS, an affiliation with Keep America Beautiful, Inc. affords the City additional
environmental preservation benefits because of the State and National network of Keep
America Beautiful Programs; and
WHEREAS, Keep America Beautiful, Inc., through its nationwide grassroots network
with over 500 affiliates, assists communities to empower individuals to take greater
responsibility for enhancing their community environment; and
WHEREAS, Keep Florida Beautiful, Inc., the state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful,
Inc., is established by the State of Florida Legislature to assist the grassroots community-
based groups statewide and is dedicated to coordinating the State of Florida's litter reduction
efforts; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that education and public enlightenment is the
foundation for fostering responsible individual action toward the environment; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the most effective community partnerships include
representation from the public (government), private (businesses and homeowner
associations) and civic sectors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is directed to implement a "Keep Opa-Locka Beautiful
Program" and take all necessary actions for said purpose.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of Mayor.
