The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Jeanne Breazeale at 9:20 AM. In attendance were Jeanne Breazeale, Mary Windle, Kim Tiernan, Scott Harrington and Betsy Hvide observed. II. Mary Windle moves that the minutes from the previous meetings be approved and signed. Kim Tiernan seconds the motion. III. Brief discussion is held regarding the Florida Urban and Community Forestry Conference to be held in Orlando September 9th - 11th. Who can attend? Mary and Jeanne commit to go and Kim is undecided. IV. Mary Windle states that she spoke with Skip Randolph regarding setting up a Tree Fund. Skip told her to contact Scott Harrington to open a separate bank account. All donation checks should be made out to The Town of Gulf Stream and earmarked "Tree Fund." The Commission can vote at any time to re -allocate these funds should they choose to. The alternative to this arrangement would be to set up a tax exempt corporation, but all in attendance agreed that this was not necessary at this time. Skip also told Mary that any decisions regarding fundraising events must be decided at a regular NOBLAC public meeting. He also advised us that Betsy Hvide can not serve on NOBLAC as well as the Zoning Board. V. Jeanne poled the group's feelings regarding adding a 5th member to NOBLAC. Mary and Kim agreed that this was a good idea. Suggestions included Eleanor Woolems and Sammy Winston. It was decided to shelve and decisions on this issue until the end of September. VI. Jeanne advises the group that DOT plans to remove the dead Australian Pine trees before the end of August and suggests that we re-evaluate the condition of the remaining trees and request that DOT also remove those trees deemed to be in negligible condition. This would save the town the expense of trimming and or removing said trees in the near future. The group agrees and plans to walk the trees at the close of this meeting. VII. Scott Harrington presents group members with a large packet of information regarding programs and grants that may be available to us. He also gives each member a "tree map" of North Ocean Boulevard. VIII. Jeanne suggests a meeting date of Wednesday, September 16, 1992, at 12:00 Noon. Mary makes the motion and Kim seconds. The motion is passed. IX. The committee adjourns to examine the questionable trees along North Ocean Boulevard. X. Mary makes a motion to allow DOT to remove the three questionable trees. Kim seconds and the motion is passed.
