MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
NORTH OCEAN BOULEVARD LANDSCAPING ADVISORY COMMITTEE
TOWN OF GULF STREAM
JANUARY 6, 1993
TOWN HALL OF GULF STREAM
100 SEA ROAD, GULF STREAM, FLORIDA
***********************************
The meeting was called to order by the
Chairman, Jeanne Breazeale, at 9:OOAM. In
attendance were Jeanne Breazeale, Linda Bryan,
and Kim Tiernan. Commissioner True was a
visitor.
II. Jeanne informed the group that the Commission
agreed to hire C. Way Hoyt as the Towns
Arborist. Apparently, the Right of Way maps
are near completion, and, at which time they
are received by Scott Harrington, DOT may
begin their trimming of the existing pines.
The Commission suggested that C. Way meet with
DOT to coordinate and supervise the trimming.
After trimming is complete, he will conduct a
Hazard Tree survey and then the Town can
proceed with the additional pruning and tree
care necessary to preserve the health of the
remaining trees.
III. Jeanne continued outlining the results of the
Commission meeting. Mayor Koch mentioned the
importance of contacting the legislators
regarding our cause, and rallying their
support. A plan was formed which would
prepare us for the 1994 Legislative Session.
The plan is as follows:
a.) We need to pursue all research contacts
by mail and gather all pertinent and positive
information available from Australian -Pine -
Tree -Sensitive experts;
NOBLAC Meeting, January 6, 1993
Continued ....
b.) We must then compile a well-documented
detailed report;
c.) This report would then be given to Mark
Foley;
d.) Mark Foley will then determine what other
players need to become involved;
e.) We will approach the other legislators in
September;
f.) Attend the preliminary public hearing in
October -November;
g.) And, finally, have our case presented at
the 1994 Legislative Session in Tallahassee.
IV. Jeanne feels that some weather data would be
critical to our report and asked for some help
in gathering this information.
The subject of "Tree City" also was brought up
and Kim volunteered to read the literature and
report back at the next meeting.
V. The group agreed that the Gulf Stream Historic
Highway Committee would suspend meeting until
further notice.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30AM.
Respectfully submitted:
Kimberly A. Tiernan
