HomeMy Public PortalAbout1999-0023 Member Smith introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA r Y ac_ RESOLUTION NO.99-02 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 305 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 305, an ordinance amending section 355.01 et seq. of the city's code of ordinances relating to false alarms; and WHEREAS, the ordinance is lengthy; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina that the city clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 305 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 305. The ordinance amends the city's ordinance regarding the fees chargeable for false alarms. The current ordinance allows up to three false alarms per year per address before the user incurs a fee. Alarm users are charged a fee beginning with the fourth false alarm. The amendment allows only one false alarm for police matters and no false alarms for fire during a calendar year. A fee will be charged beginning with the second false police alarm and for the all false fire alarms. A separate resolution adopted by the city council establishes a fee schedule which increases the fees for false alarms. A full copy of the ordinance is on file at city hall in the office of the clerk -treasurer and may be reviewed during regular business hours.
