GULF STREAM HISTORIC HIGHWAY COMMITTEE

October 6, 1994
I. The meeting was called to order by the Chairman Jeanne
Breazeale at 12:00 Noon. In attendance were Jeanne Breazeale,
Kim Tiernan, Mary Windle and Cynthia Neeves.
II. The meeting was a general discussion regarding the award of the
ICTEA Grant of 285,000 dollars to the Town of Gulf Stream for
the relandscaping of AlA.
III. The group agreed that Scott Harrington should find out if the
persuance of the Town to replant the Australian Pine Trees
would affect our eligibility to receive the Grant. If not,
we would continue to lobby for permission to replant based on
the historic significance of AlA and the presence of the Aus-
tralian Pine Tree. If persuing this plan would jeapordize our
eligibility to receive this grant money, we would simply continue
to maintain the existing healthy pines and begin to develop a
long term landscape plan for AlA - in conjunction with a land-
scape architech- which would eventually replace the pines as
they begin to die off.
IV. There was discussion about adding new members to the GSHHC, as
we feel that new energy and ideas are needed. As no response to
our initial list of possible appointees (which was presented to
the Commission) was forthcoming, it will be re presented at the
next Commission Meeting.
V. The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 PM.
