RESOLUTION NO. 15-9037
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZNG THE CITY
MANAGER TO PREPARE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
(RFP) FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW COMMISSION
CHAMBER, AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING LOCATED AT
780 FISHERMAN STREET, OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, The City of Opa-locka is moving into the municipal building located at 780
Fisherman Street; and
WHEREAS, the City will be constructing a new Commission Chamber on the second
floor and wishes to put out an RFP for qualified companies to construct the Chamber.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby directs the City
Manager be issue an RFP to qualified companies to construct the new Commission Chamber.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of July, 2015.

Staff Summary:
The new commission chamber will be constructed on the 2❑d floor of the municipal building located at 780 Fisherman Street,
Opa-locka, Florida-33054. The proposed commission chamber will accommodate about 220 seats and seven commissioners at
the Dias considering future growth projection. The commission chamber will be equipped with modern technology as reflected
in the attached renderings.
Proposed Action:
Staff recommends seeking proposals from qualified bidders to construct the new commission chamber.

Request: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,
FLORIDA REQUESTING APPROVAL FOR THE CITY MANAGER TO PREPARE
AND ISSUE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF A NEW COMMISSION CHAMBER AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING
LOCATED AT 780 FISHERMAN STREET, OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA. THE ITEM IS
BUDGETED.
Description:
The new commission chamber will be constructed on the 2nd floor of the municipal building located at 780
Fisherman Street, Opa-locka, Florida-33054. The proposed commission chamber will accommodate about
220 seats and room for future growth. The commission chamber will be equipped with modern technology..
Financial Impact: The construction of the new commission chamber is budgeted along with the purchase
of the 780 Fisherman Street Building for the municipal operations.
Implementation Time Line: As soon as possible.
Recommendation(s): Staff recommends seeking proposals from qualified bidders to construct the new
commission chamber.
