HomeMy Public PortalAbout1999-01023 Member Jim Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.99-10 RESOLUTION ENDORSING CANDIDATES FOR APPOINTMENT TO MINNEHAHA CREEK WATERSHED DISTRICT WHEREAS, the City of Medina has worked cooperatively with the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District on stormwater management issues; and WHEREAS, the Minnehaha Watershed law provides that municipalities within a watershed district in the metropolitan area may nominate persons to serve on the board of managers of the watershed district from which the County Board of Commissioners shall appoint the manager; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Section 103D.311, Subd. 3 provides that watershed district managers are to be selected from a list of persons nominated by one or more of the cities and towns affected; and WHEREAS, Charles Scott Thomas of Minnetrista, Warren McNeil of Deephaven, and Malcolm Reid of Shorewood have stated that they will commit to the stewardship of Lake Minnetonka and other watershed district waters by working to protect and improve water quality through wise water resources management; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina that the Council endorses these candidates for appointment to the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District and urges the County Boards of Hennepin to make appointments from the ranked list below, giving due reguard to the various hydrological areas within the Distrcit as required by Minnesota Statutes, Section 103D, sub. 3(C): Hennepin County candidates: 1. Charles Scott Thomas, Minnetrista 2. Warren McNeil, Deephaven 3. Malcolm Reid, Shorewood Ferris, Mayor ATTE Pau ' obinson, Clerk -Treasurer 99-10 02-02-99 24 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Phil Zietlow and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Ferris, Hamilton, Johnson, Smith, and Zietlow and the following voted against: None Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted this 2nd day of February, 1999 99-10 02-02-99
