THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 8, 2003
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday,
May 8, 2003 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided, with
Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger, and Assistant City Attorney Joel Harvey in attendance. The following
business was conducted:
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There were no minutes to approve.
CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT
Henry presented claims for payment from the Finance Department in the amount of $94,910.36 and
moved for approval, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
REQUESTS
A. Goodwin read a letter from Beth Howard requesting the closing of Northwest 3rd Street between
Lincoln and Randolph Streets on May 16, 2003 from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the Baxter PTO
Carnival. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice
vote.
B. Goodwin read a request for an access permit at 3031 Industries Road. Henry moved to approve,
second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
BID AWARD
A. Goodwin read a letter from Street Commissioner Gordon Moore requesting a bid be awarded to
Kramer and Associates for $33,340 for the rehabilitation of North 18th Street. Metzger moved to
approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
BID OPENING
A. The following bids were opened for the Income Survey: Ball State University, $4,000 and Indiana
University East, $9,300. These bids will be reviewed and awarded later this evening.
B. The following bids were opened for the demolition of the Ramada Inn: Jergens Bales Inc. Dayton,
OH, $139,000; Steve Rauche Contractors, $239,000; Sabre Corporation, $184,000; Vollmar
Excavating, $249,000; Specialty Systems, Inc. $384,000; and Mike Delucio and Sons $119,400.
These bids will be reviewed and awarded at a later date.
BID AWARD
A. Tony Foster of the Community Development Office recommended that the Income Survey bid be
awarded to Dr. Jeff Hornsby of Ball State University for $4,000. Metzger moved to approve,
second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice
vote, the meeting was adjourned.
