HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-12-2003THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 12, 2003 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided, with Robin Henry and Bruce Metzger in attendance. Assistant City Attorney Joel Harvey was absent. The following business was conducted: I_ 1>>: t61 T/ _ 1 S61 a L Y i I I► 011 � Henry made a motion to approve the minutes for May 29, 2003 and June 5, 2003, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims from the Finance Department for $305,277.10 and made a motion to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Goodwin introduced Wayne County Commissioner Mary Heyob who said that Wayne County is privileged to be one of the stops for the National Holiday Tree as it travels from Idaho to Washington D.C. She requested approval to close Fourth Street between the Courthouse and the Administration Building from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2003 for a reception and requested permission to park the large trucks carrying the Holiday Tree and other trees for the National Buildings in Washington D.C. in the City Parking Lot. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Fire Chief Mike Allen requested approval for the candidate list of firefighters. The present list expires June 30, 2003 and this new list will be good through June 30, 2005. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. C. Goodwin read a letter from John Fox Jr. of Construction Resources requesting permission to block the alley directly south of First National Bank and Trust, 722 East Main, for about one week to remove the chimney located on the southwest corner of the building. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENINGS A. One bid was received for doors for Fire Station 1, 2 and 3 and it was from Paul Bisker in the amount of $2,540. This will be reviewed by Chief Allen and awarded later this evening. B. The following bids were received for repair of the detention pond in Mid West Industrial Park: Cauley Construction, $8,817.80; Butler Excavating, $7,545; R.L. Coon, $15,850.66 and Milestone Construction, $13,451. These bids will be reviewed and awarded at a later date. BID AWARD A. Chief Allen recommended approval to award the bid for doors at Fire Stations 1, 2, and 3 to Paul Bisker in the amount of $2,540. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. Board of Works Minutes Cont'd.
