HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-19-2003THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 19, 2003 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided, with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger, Assistant City Attorney Joel Harvey and City Attorney Bob Bever in attendance. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Metzger made a motion to approve the minutes for June 12, 2003, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT There were no claims for payment. REQUESTS A. Henry requested a waiver for Fire Chief Mike Allen, so that the Fire Truck may be used to escort the 2003 Golf Team State Champs as they arrive back in town this evening. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Business Development Coordinator Tony Foster introduced a mini -grant for right -of- way improvements in Glen Court. Foster said he would take a look at and bring it back to the next meeting for a vote. C. Goodwin introduced the Assistant Planning Director Scott Zimmerman who requested approval for students and residences of the area to paint a Mural on the cement surface on the U.S. 27 Overpass, which passes over Elm Place. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. Harvey explained that he has prepared a claim to release the City from liability. D. Bever requested approval for the City of Richmond and Roosters Minor League Team to allow the Richmond Civic Theater to use McBride Stadium to sell wine and beer on June 20, 2003. Bever explained the only time beer and wine may be sold is at a semi - professional baseball game and they are requesting special permission for a one time approval. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. E. Goodwin requested an access permit at 3809 -3811 Arbor Gate. Henry moved to approve, subject to conditions of Engineering, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENING A. The following bids were opened for the Painting of the Parking Garage: Derek Chambers, $16,000 with 20 days completion; Charles Robbins Painting, 21 days completion, $12,470; Russell Painting, 18 to 20 days completion, $14,800; Hardwick Painting, 25 days completion, $13,445. These bids will be reviewed and awarded at a later date. B. Bids were opened for the YMCA and Foster said these are statements of qualifications and no prices are attached: Green Three, Maze Design, Nightingale Designs, Carmel, Indiana; Schmidt Association Indianapolis Architecture and Engineering Firm, and Gove Associates, Inc. Engineer Charles Greene requested a bid be awarded for the soil erosion repair at the detention pond at Industrial Park to, Butler Excavating for $7,545. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. INTRODUCTION OF STUDENTS Several students from Centerville High School were in attendance and introduced. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
