HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-10-2003THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 10, 2003 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2003 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided, with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Joel Harvey in attendance. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Metzger made a motion to approve the minutes for June 26, 2003 and July 3, 2003 second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims from the Finance Department for $93,721.16 and made a motion to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Jennifer McGuire of the Community Development Office requested approval for a $500 mini -grant for the beautification of the Lions Park East on North 15th Street. The landscaping will be done by the youth groups and church members of First Presbyterian Church of Richmond and Southport Presbyterian in Indianapolis, with the work to be done on July 23, and 24, 2003. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Goodwin said Wayne County Commissioner Mary Heyob would like to request a noise variance for the Wayne County Fair, which runs from July 11 through July 29, 2003. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CURB CUTS A. Goodwin requested approval for three curb cuts: 3523 Eagle Trace; 2111 Canterbury Trail; and 980 Breckenridge. Metzger moved to approve, subject to conditions by Board of Works and Safety, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENINGS A. The following bids were opened for the painting of Fire Stations 2 and 3: Varvel Painting, $3,300; Russell Painting, $3,800 with an alternate of $950; Seal Painting, $4,150; and Charles Robbins, $1,908 for station #1 and $1,656 for Station #2. These bids will be reviewed and awarded at a later date. B. The following bids were opened for curb and sidewalks for North "F Street: Bowlin Construction, $118,380 and TdM $130,405. These bids will be reviewed and awarded at a later date. C. The following bids were opened for the demolition of the Ramada Inn: Special Systems, Indianapolis, IN, $364,999; Mike Delucio and Son, Richmond, $118,350; Steve R. Rauch, Dayton, OH, $239,000 and Saber Corp., Carmel IN, $169,000. These bids will be reviewed an awarded at a later date. Board of Works Minutes Cont'd. July 10, 2003 Page 2 AGREEMENT A. City Engineer Charles Greene recommended approval for an amendment to the agreement with U.S.G.S. for aquifer monitoring with an increase of $13,539. The original agreement is to apply ground water dating and low level water chemistry analyses to evaluate water - quality conditions and vulnerability in the glacial aquifer located south of Glen Miller Park. Metzger moved to approve second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
