HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-25-2003THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SEPTEMBER 25, 2003 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2003 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided, with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger, and Assistant City Attorney Joel Harvey in attendance. The following business was conducted: EXECUTIVE MEETING RESULTS Goodwin said they would like to continue the Executive Session next Thursday October 2, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. as a decision could not be reached. The decision will be on the agenda at the next meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Henry made a motion to approve the minutes for September 18, 2003, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims from the Finance Department for $79,619.23 and made a motion to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Fire Chief Mike Allen requested permission to use the Standby Aerial Truck for players and cheerleaders to ride on for the RHS homecoming parade on October 2, 2003. Allen reminded them that everyone riding on the truck must sign a waiver releasing the City from any liability. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Tony Foster Business Development Coordinator requested permission for a beautification grant in the amount of $500 to Jerry and Virginia Wysong on Glen Court. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. C. Goodwin read a letter from "Genesis" of the YWCA requesting permission to hold a candlelight vigil on the steps of the Richmond Municipal Building, Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. for approximately one (1) hour. This is for "Domestic Violence Awareness ". Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. D. Chief Allen requested permission for Fire House #5 at 1971 West Main Street, to be used as a polling place on November 4, 2003. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. E. Goodwin read a letter from Shefali Nath, Student Body Vice President of Richmond High School and Jack Hughes Student Body Adviser, Richmond High School requesting permission for their annual Homecoming Parade to be held on Thursday, October 2, 2003 beginning at 6 p.m. The parade will begin on Southwest 13th at the Cordell Municipal Pool and proceed to Southwest 1St Street ending at the football field. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. F. Goodwin read a letter from Pumla Pamla of Earlham College requesting a noise variance for the African Fall Festival to be held on October 5, 2003 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. City Engineer Charles Greene requested Change Order #2 for the Detention Pond at the Mid West Industrial Park to repair field tile on the west side of the pond. The cost is an increase of $20,706.08, with a new total of $211,282.08. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. AGREEMENT A. Joel Harvey, Asst. City Attorney presented a Maintenance Agreement for Printrak for the Richmond Police Department, in the amount of $6,389. The agreement is from December 1, 2003 to November 30, 2003. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
