Member Zietlow introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.99-17
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF
ORDINANCE NO. #310 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. #310, an
ordinance amending sections 815.01 et seq. of the city's code of ordinances relating to signs; and
WHEREAS, the ordinance is 10 pages in length; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and
summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and
WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the
public of the intent and effect of the ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina that
the city clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. #310 to be published in
the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance:
Public Notice
The City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. #310. The ordinance is
a comprehensive amendment of the city's regulations regarding signs. The ordinance addresses a
number of inconsistencies and ambiguities in the current ordinance. It corrects errors in grammar
and syntax and provides for a uniform style. Certain substantive provisions have also been
modified, including allowing larger business signs in certain circumstances. The ordinance expands
the list of documentation which must be submitted in order to obtain a sign permit. The ordinance
also clarifies the regulations regarding non -conforming and damaged signs. A full copy of the
ordinance is on file at city hall in the office of the clerk -trees be reviewed during
regular business hours.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina that the city
clerk -treasurer keep a copy of the ordinance in his office at city hall for public inspection and that he
post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place within the City.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Hamilton
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Ferris, Hamilton, Johnson, Smith, and Zietlow
and the following voted against same: None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
