RESOLUTION NO. 15-9055
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXPLORE THE FEASIBILITY OF
LEVERAGING THE PAYMENT OF FUTURE FRANCHISE
FEES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVING AN IMMEDIATE
CASH INFUSION INTO THE CITY FINANCES;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City of Opa-locka, Florida is experiencing a budget shortfall
for FY 2014-2015; and
WHEREAS, The City of Opa-locka, Florida is anticipating a budget shortfall
for FY 2015-2016; and
WHEREAS, The City of Opa-locka, Florida requires an infusion of cash and
needs to explore options to avert a financial emergency.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to explore the feasibility of
leveraging the payment of future franchise fees for the purpose of providing an
immediate infusion of cash into the City's finances and report back to the City
Commission with options by September 23, 2015.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
