• Orleans 4th of July Committee ORLEANS TO N CLER
Thursday, May 14, 2015
In attendance: Committee Members,Jane Peno, Sue Christie, Ingrid Moyer, Judi Weil, Absent, Bonnie
Roy; Also in attendance Selectboard Liaison, Alan McClennen, Friends of the 4th of July, Peter O'Meara,
Judy Benz, Glenda Downs; Interested Citizens, Peter Howerton,Judy Pepper
The Meeting was called to order at 4:00pm
• The Minutes of the April 23, 2015 meeting were unanimously approved.
AGENDA ITEMS:
Old Business:
1. Update from The Friends Of The Fourth of July, Inc
• Peter O'Meara reported that 7500 letters were sent out 150 were returned with donations
totaling$7,300
2. Band Update
• 6 bands are confirmed. This includes the Brewster Town Band.
• Waiting to hear from The Nauset Jazz band.
• Discussion is needed with regards to Marge Astles' son's band as to howmuch they would get
paid.
3. Budget Update

• 4. Review Timeline - Parade and Fireworks Preparation
• Select one more Judge.
• Bobbi Thompson confirmed that "Uncle Sam", Russ Holden will be in the parade.
• Start thinking about who we can ask to volunteer to walk with the parade.
• Bill Pomeroy will take photograph of the Theme Contest winner.
• Ingrid writing article for Cape Codder to submit with photo of Theme Contest winner.
• Jim McNally, from CC Sea Camps will help again with the fencing. We should arrange for others to
help him.
• Jane has sent out letters to Judges, Dignitaries. Delivering letter to Rock Harbor about the
fireworks.
• Ingrid looked into up grading trophies. Costs were too high.
• Ingrid ordering red T-shirts for adults and white for children.
• Banner being hung June 29 through July 6.
• Billy Giroux has been contacted to place flags along the Parade route as usual.
• Tipping fee has been waived for Nauset Disposal.
• Sally and Bob Tucker, Carolyn Ward, Chris Harman and guests, and Elaine Godin will help with the
decorating.
May into June
ENTRY FORMS/POSTERS—Bonnie, Ingrid
• Update the Entry Form and have it put on Town Website and send it to the Chamber of Commerce
• • Revise the poster that we post in Orleans and surrounding towns
• Bonnie and Ingrid will print extra entry forms
• Get the Sign Posting (board signs) form submitted to Building Department
• Fill out the Facility Use Forms for OES and NRMS parking lots
• Post signs—date and locations specified on permit form—sign form
JANE
Contact or email the media outlets about the dates for the Parade and Fireworks.
• INGRID
• Distribute posters and entry forms around Orleans, Eastham and Brewster
• Start working on the order of t-shirts to sell at the Chamber of Commerce. They will be a lighter
color to distinguish them from the volunteer shirts. Ingrid will ask Noella at the Chamber about
what sizes to possibly order
• Bus picking up camp kids at top parking lot—Rick
JUDI WEIL
• Contact the Orleans Police and Fire Departments to make sure they are aware of the Fireworks
dates— Kevin Higgins at OPD —Jeff Dearing at OFD
• They will handle the trash and Porta Potties for the Parade and Fireworks
• Begin contacting companies for drivers and vehicles for the Parade. She will contact Peter
Howerton if she needs information.
• Remind bus company to move buses out of OES and NRMS parking lots
• Contact Ron Deschamps at Nauset Marine about steps for bands to get on flatbeds
SUE CHRISTIE
• Take the banner to Young and Fancy to have the dates changed
• Contact Nauset Disposal to arrange for Porta Potties and trash containers for the Fireworks and
the Parade—We will request the same number and locations as last year.
• Contact Friends Market for use of flowers for the reviewing stand
• Billy Giroux and the Legion should be mentioned in the thank you letter to the editor, after the 4th
• • Contact Land Ho about ice for coolers
• Coordinate volunteers for decorating, un-decorating
BONNIE/JUDI
• It is noted we will verbally reinforce what is written about the Parade Awards in the letter given to
entrants on parade day. They should plan on bringing their float or having a representative at the
awards
GLENDA DOWNS
• Requesting a donation of small water bottles from Stop and Shop and Shaws.
5. New Business
The next meeting will be held on Thursday,June 11, 2015 at 4:00 pm at the Orleans Town Hall.
The Meeting was adjourned at 5:pm
