Santiago RESOLUTION NO. 15-9073 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OPA-LOCKA; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ESTABLISH A EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND IN THE NAME OF FREDDIE JAMES LONDON FOR RESIDENTS OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Freddie James London, a resident of the Great City of Opa-locka, Florida, was victim of a senseless homicide on September 19, 2015; and WHEREAS, Freddie James London, devoted his life to helping young men and women lead a productive life throughout Miami-Dade County, Florida; and WHEREAS, It is the desire of the City of Opa-locka, Florida, to create the Freddie James London Educational Scholarship Fund in his honor and memory for residents of Opa-locka, Florida. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF OPA LOCAK, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The Manager is hereby directed to take all steps necessary establish the Freddie James London Educational Scholarship Fund, including but not limited to, criteria, a segregated bank account, and any other steps necessary and appropriate to effectuate the intent of this Resolution. Section 3. The Manager further directed to report back to the City Commission within 60 days of the effective of this Resolution with a report on its progress in the establishment of the Freddie James London Educational Scholarship Fund. Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
