Mayor Chavez called the City Council Special Meeting to order at 7:04p.m. in the
Live Oak Park Community Center at 10144 Bogue Street.

Mayor Chavez announced that Councilmember Fish is absent due to conflict of
interest.
3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Jerry Jambazian, Temple City business owner, led those present in the Pledge of
Allegiance.
4. NEW BUSINESS
A. PROPOSED LAS TUNAS STREETSCAPE DESIGN
Three Las Tunas Streetscape designs were developed to align with local
revitalization goals, as well as funding conditions of the Metro grant. City
Council is requested to provide final direction on whether to move forward
with Option A streetscape design or consider alternate concepts for the Las
Tunas corridor.
City Manager Cook reiterated the options City Council considered during
the December Community Meeting for the Las Tunas Drive Project and
provided an overview of the concept that will be considered by City Council
tonight.
Mayor Chavez acknowledged the comments City Council received by
phone and email prior to the meeting.

Gary Aramaki, John Kayanaugh, Bobbie McGowen, Ruth Giese, Jim Law,
Pat Leane, Joy Carothers, George Goold, Vincent Gonzalez, Cecelia
Rudar, Ruj Topani, Doris Robin, Dick Hong, Conrad Urquidi, Vance Ho,
John Rollofson, Andrea Cordes, Robert Bock, C.Y. Wong, Dennis Griffin,
Larry Muelaly, John Lewis, Rhue Guyant, Michael Zhu, Henry Ransons,
Jene Mok, Linda Brown, Jorge Valerio, Carol Lampton, Abigail Flores,
Brian Lewin, John Emanuel, Vincent Hsu, George MacDonald, Byron
Briones, Helen Marsten, Carol Lampton, Kevin Li, George Juenemann,
David Maxwell, Ming Lu, Dorothy Bock, Carl Blum, Agnes Mok, Patrick Yeh
made comments regarding the Las Tunas Drive Project.
City Council recessed the meeting at 9:45 p.m. and reconvened at 9:51
p.m. with all councilmembers present.
City Manager Cook provided a summary of the comments from the public
comment cards.
Hearing no further request to speak, Mayor Chavez closed public
comment.
Mayor Chavez opened City Council comment.
Councilmember Sternquist reiterated City Council's decision from the
previous City Council meeting regarding Las Tunas Drive Project. She
shared City Council's motivation behind Las Tunas Drive Project and
stated that she is not in favor of moving forward with Option A.
Councilmember Man spoke regarding the process City Council took to
arrive to design Option A. He suggests going back to address all the
concerns the public has regarding Las Tunas Drive block by block and
possibly creating a Business Improvement District. He is not in favor of
pursuing Option A and would consider alternate concepts for the Las
Tunas corridor.
Mayor ProTem Yu stated that he would not vote to continue with Option A.
He commented on the establishment of a Business Improvement District
and the need for businesses, residents, and City to come up with a project
that all can agree on.
Mayor Chavez shared that the project started out as beautification of Las
Tunas Drive and addressed some of the comments received from the
public.

Mayor ProTem Yu made a motion to not move forward with Option A and
directed staff to provide alternative revitalization concepts for the Las
Tunas corridor. Seconded by Councilmember Man and unanimously
carried by the following votes:

5. PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT LISTED ON THE AGENDA
Bobbi McGowen, Sylvia Rayar, and a member of the public made
comments.

The City Council Special Meeting was adjourned at 10:36 p.m.
