I L 35 Z AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, DESIGNATING PROPERTIES SELECTED BYTHE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION FOR THE 2007 LANDMARK AWARDS. WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-42 of the City Code, the City of Jefferson Historic Preservation Commission (CJHPC) is required to evaluate properties within the City for potential designation as a historic landmark; and, WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-42 of the City Code, a property is eligible for landmark designation if the CJHPC determines that it meets any of the following criteria: A. The potential landmark is in an identifiable neighborhood or distinct geographical area which has historic and/or cultural importance to the city; or B. The potential landmark is associated with a particular prominent person, a significant event or historical period; or C. The potential landmark exhibits a particular architectural style or school, or are associated with a particular architect, engineer, builder, designer or craftsman; or D. The potential landmark contains historic, prehistoric and archaeological features, evidence and/or artifacts which have the potential to contribute to the understanding of historic and prehistoric cultures; and, WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson,the owner of 111 - 113 East High Street, John J. Jordan, has applied for designation of the building as a historic landmark; and, WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, the owners of 124- 126 E. High Street, David Windton and D. Scott Penmann, have applied for designation of the building as a historic landmark; and, WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson,the owner of the Jefferson City Coco-Cola Bottling Company Building, 604 Jefferson Street, Emily Vogel Tolken, has applied for designation of the building as a historic landmark; and, WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, the owner of • Monroe Plaza(the Double Tree Hotel), 422 Monroe Plaza, Vinca Enterprises, .L has applied for designation of the building as a historic landmark; and, WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson,the owner of the Lohman House, 1107 Moreau Drive, J. Joe (B.J.) Delong, has applied for designation of the building as a historic landmark; and, WHEREAS, The CJHPC has considered the applications and determined that these sites meet the qualifications set forth by the Code as shown in the attached Applications, and are otherwise worthy of designations as landmarks; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. 111 - 113 East High Street is hereby designated as a historic landmark. Section 2. 124 - 126 E. High Street, is hereby designated as a historic landmark. Section 3. The Jefferson City Coco-Cola Bottling Company Building, 604 Jefferson Street, is hereby designated as a historic landmark. Section 4. The Monroe Plaza (the Double Tree Hotel), is hereby designated as a historic landmark. Section 5. the Lohman House, 1107 Moreau Drive, is hereby designated as a 41 historic landmark. Section 6. The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to cause the appropriate plaque to be provided to the owners of the designated sites. Section 7. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and approval.
