THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 17, 2004
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 11:30
A.M. Wednesday, March 17, 2004 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building.
Board Members John Kenny, Dian Lawson, Mary Jo Flood were in attendance. Also
attending were Mayor Sally Hutton, City Attorney Walt Chidester and City Engineer
Chuck Greene.
The following business was conducted.
CALLED TO ORDER
Kenny called to order an emergency meeting of The Board of Public Works and Safety
of the City of Richmond to receive and award bids for the repair of a damaged railroad
spur located near the Southeast Wood Treatment Plant in Richmond, Indiana.
An emergency meeting was requested by Mayor Hutton, pursuant to Indiana Code 5-
14 -1.5 -5 (d), because of an actual injury to property. Notice of this emergency meeting
was given to the news media as required by law. A copy of the notice of this meeting
was properly posted as required by law.
A motion was made by Lawson to move bids from the agenda for the March 18, 2004
meeting to this emergency meeting of the board on March 17, 2004, with a second by
Flood. The motion was unanimously passed.
Because of the urgency situation of the needed repairs, notice of this emergency
meeting was sent to six companies. A motion was made by Flood to accept faxed bids
with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed.
The following Companies submitted faxed bids:
1) Rail works Truck Services: $10,528.28 and able to start within 5 days.
2) Newberry Construction: $6,454.00 and able to start within a day.
Kenny made a motion to accept the bid from Newberry Construction. Flood made a
motion to accept the bid, with a second by Lawson. Motion was unanimously passed.
ADJOURMENT
There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed
unanimously. The meeting was adjourned.
