RESOLUTION NO. 15-9086
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO MEET WITH THE CITY'S LOBBYIST TO
EXPLORE SEEKING A WAIVER OF THE STATE'S
PROHIBITION ON LOCAL PREFERENCE IN CONTRACTS
THAT RECEIVE 50% OR MORE OF ITS FUNDING FROM
THE STATE OF FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR
INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City of Opa-locka, Florida's residents and businesses benefit
from a local preference when contracting with the City of Opa-locka; and
WHEREAS, There is a need for continued application of local preference
when contracting with the City where the State of Florida is providing 50% or more
of the funding in that it provides for a economic benefit to the residents and
businesses of the City of Opa-locka.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to meet with the City's
lobbyist to explore seeking a waiver of the State of Florida's prohibition on local
preference in contracts that receive 50% or more its funding from the State of
Florida.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
