RESOLUTION NO. 15-9087
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA; RECOGNIZING THE
MONTH OF OCTOBER AS "BREAST CANCER
AWARENESS MONTH"; PROVIDING FOR
INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast
cancer over the course of her life; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, an estimate 231,840 new case of invasive breast cancer is
predicted in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Approximately 2,350 new cases of invasive breast cancer is
expected to be diagnosed in men in the United States in men; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, there are approximately 2.8 million women in the
United States that have a history of breast cancer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED THAT THE CITY
COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF OPA LOCAK, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City of Opa-locka, Florida, hereby recognizes the Month of
October as "Breast Cancer Awareness Month."
Section 3. That copy of this resolution be transmitted to Breast Cancer.Org
and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
