SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The purpose of this agenda bill is to seek approval for the submission of a Recreational Vehicle Fund grant
for the Central Idaho Historical Museum. If the grant is awarded, future Council action will be required to
accept the grant agreement.
The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) administers funding for recreational vehicle
facilities and improvements. The City of McCall applied for this funding in the past to construct the parking
area and restroom at the Central Idaho Historical Museum, as well as the Forester's Walk at the same
location. Staff met with IDPR staff and Marlee Wilcomb, Executive Director of the CIHM, in September
2009 to discuss the potential of adding some site improvements to include trees, realignment of the
designated RV parking spaces, and other landscaping improvements in the parking lot area to enhance the
site and improve the RV visitor's experience. The McCall Parks and Recreation Director, Recreation
Coordinator, Ms. Wilcomb and Julie Grove, CHIM Board Member, met recently to finalize plans for the
project and to begin to develop a scope of work and cost estimate. The proposed project has received
support from the Museum Board of Directors, and the City Parks and Recreation Department. In -kind force
account labor for the project would be provided by the Parks and Recreation Department staff and Public
Works staff for site preparation and planting.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the submission of a Recreational Vehicle Fund grant application to the Idaho Department of
Parks and Recreation for parking lot site improvements at the Central Idaho Historical Museum and
authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
