SUMMARY STATEMENT:
A staff (or in-house) engineer was hired on March 15, 2010. The Staff Engineer is an employee of the City
who is a registered professional engineer whose responsibilities include development review and other
related tasks. Like the contracted City Engineer, CH2MHi11, the Staff Engineer will review the engineering
related parts of land use applications. This service is billed to the property owner for the actual cost of the
service at an hourly rate.
Attached is Resolution 10-13 that sets the hourly rate for the Staff Engineer at $60/hour. This fee was
established based on an assessment of all expenses incurred by the City to fund the position. The resolution
to establish the new fee was publicly noticed in the Star News on March 25 and April 1, 2010.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve Resolution 10-13 and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
