SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF
NOVEMBER 18, 2015
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file th e Parks and Recreation Comm ission
actions from thei r meeting of November 18, 2015.
BACKGROUND:
On Nove mber 18 , 2015 , the Parks and Recreation Commi ssion he ld their regu larly
scheduled meeting .
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the November 18 , 2015 Parks and
Recreation Commission meeting :
1. ROLL CALL :
Present: Commissioner-Baro ldi , Haddad , Vice-Chairman Georgine ,
Chairman Rosso
Absent: Commissioner -None
Excused : Commissioner-Wen
2 . CONSENT CALENDAR
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the October 21 ,
2015 meeting and received and filed the monthly report for October 2015 .

4 . NEW BUSINESS
A. REQUEST FOR REMOVAL OF A VALLEY OAK TREE LOCATED AT 9836
ESTRELLA AVENUE
The Parks and Recreation Commission considered an appeal of staffs
decision to not remove a valley oak tree located in the public right of way at
9836 Estrella Avenue. The Commission den ied the appeal upho ld i ng staffs
decision determining the tree did not meet any criteria for removal.
B . REQUEST FROM GREAT ENLIGHTENMENT LOTUS SOCIETY (GELS)
FOR RESERVED USE OF THE PERFORMING ARTS PAVILION AND
GRASS AREAS AT TEMPLE CITY PARK FOR A CHINESE NEW YEAR
FESTIVAL ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14 , 2016
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the request from GELS
after the applicant requested a date change from February 14, 2016 to
February 13 , 2016 .
C. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER
ORGANIZATION (AYSO) FOR AUTHORIZATION TO ALLOW FOOD
TRUCKS AND AN INFLATABLE SOCCER GOAL AT LIVE OAK PARK ON
NOVEMBER 21 , 2015 FOR THEIR CLOSING CEREMONIES
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the request.
D. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMATEUR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
(TCASA) FOR AUTHORIZATION TO HANG BANNERS AT LIVE OAK PARK
TO PUBLICIZE REGISTRATION FOR THEIR 2016 SEASON
The Parks and Rec reation Comm ission approved the request for one banner
to hung on the south side of the tennis courts for a period of three weeks and
for one banner to be hung on the backstop of the softball diamond through
TCASA's 2016 regular season .
E. REVIEW OF LIVE OAK PARK JOGGING PATH PLANS
The Parks and Recreation Commiss ion reviewed and recommended
approval of the Live Oak Park Jogg ing Path plans to the City Council.
5 . MA TIERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS
A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for
November 2015 .

CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
Approval of the Commission actions of November 18 , 2015 furthers the City 's Strategic
Goals of Citizen Education and Communication.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2015-16 City Budget.
