RESOLUTION NO. 15 -9122
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE
REMOVAL OF THE CRIMINAL HISTORY QUESTION ON
JOB APPLICATIONS FOR THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA,
FLORIDA ('BAN THE BOX "); PROVIDING FOR
INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City Commission of the City of Opa- Locka, Florida, desires
to ease barriers to employment caused by the Criminal History Question on job
applications for the City of Opa- Locka; and
WHEREAS, The City Commission believes that it is in the best interest of the
City of Opa -Locka to remove the Criminal History Question on its job applications
to increase employment opportunities for individuals with past criminal history.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference;
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa- Locka, Florida, hereby
requires the City Manager to remove the Criminal History Question on all City of
Opa -Locka job applications.
Section 3. The City Commission of the City of Opa- Locka, Florida, hereby
requires the City Manager to continue to conduct comprehensive background
checks on all applicants for positions with the City of Opa- Locka.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
