SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Previously, the Public Works Department has purchased necessary chemicals for the treatment of water and
waste water from BHS Marketing, LLC. These chemicals purchased on a yearly basis have been in excess
of $60,000. It was discovered that it had been several years since any real attempts to solicit updated bids
for these chemicals.
A Request for Quotes was prepared and given to four suppliers; BHS Marketing (who is our current
supplier), Thatcher Company, Univar and WestChem. We received three quotes back (BHS Marketing,
Thatcher Company and Univar).
Univar's quote was incomplete. Of the two remaining quotes, Thatcher Company was the lowest at
$50,175.36. The cost savings over BHS Marketing is $11,741.14. I have provided a tabulation of the quotes.
It is our recommendation to award the purchase of water and waste water chemicals to Thatcher Company.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the purchase of water and waste water chemicals from Thatcher Company, and authorize
the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
