It has been over 135 years since J. Sterling Morton founded Arbor Day. His simple idea of setting aside a special day for tree planting is now more important than ever. As part of the City's application for Tree City USA, an Arbor Day Proclamation is made annually. Due to the short growing season in McCall we generally observe Arbor Day in June. Attached is our annual Arbor Day Proclamation, declaring April 29, 2011 as Arbor Day nationally. The attached proclamation will be submitted with our 2011 Arbor Day Tree Planting Grant. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Proclaim April 29, 2011 as Arbor Day and authorize the Mayor to sign the proclamation. RECORD OF COUNCIL ACTION MEETING DATE ACTION
