HomeMy Public PortalAbout2000-036 Resolution Adopting Assessment Roll for Willow Drive Improvement Project81 Member Hamilton introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.00-36 RESOLUTION ADOPTING ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR WILLOW DRIVE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, the Administrator -Clerk -Treasurer has prepared a proposed roll regarding the assessment of benefited properties for a portion of the cost of the improvement of Willow Drive from Co. Rd. 24 to Hamel Road by paving a 24' wide bituminous surface and constructing a 6-8' gravel shoulder on the west side and a 2-4' gravel shoulder on the east side; and WHEREAS, pursuant to notice as required by law, the city council conducted a public hearing on August 1, 2000 with regard to the proposed assessment of the Willow Drive improvement project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina, Minnesota, as follows: 1. The proposed assessment, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, is hereby accepted and shall constitute a special assessment against the lands named therein, and each tract of land therein included is hereby found to be benefited by the improvement in the amount of the assessment levied against it. 2. The special assessment shall be payable in equal annual installments extending over a period of 5 years, the first installment to be payable on or before the first Monday in January, 2001, and shall bear interest at the rate of 8% per annum from the date of the adoption of this assessment resolution. To the first installment shall be added interest on the entire assessment from the date of this resolution until December 31, 2000. To each subsequent installment when due shall be added interest for one year on all unpaid installments. 3. The owner of any property so assessed may, at any time prior to November 30, 2000, pay the whole of the assessment on such property to the city clerk -treasurer, and no interest shall be charged if the entire assessment is paid within such period of time. Thereafter, any owner may pay to the Administrator -Clerk -Treasurer the entire amount of the assessment remaining unpaid, with interest accrued to December 31 of the year in which such payment is made. Such payment must be made before November 15 or interest will be charged through December 31 of the next succeeding year. RHB-184442v I ME230-307 00-36 08-01-00 82 4. The Administrator -Clerk -Treasurer shall forthwith transmit a certified duplicate of this resolution to the county auditor to be extended on the property tax lists of the county and such assessments shall be collected and paid over in the same manner as other municipal taxes.
