RESOLUTION NO. 16-9148
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER AND THE CITY ATTORNEY TO CONDUCT A
FEASIBILITY STUDY TO RETAIN GENOVESE, JOBLOVE &
BATTISTA, P.A., A FINANCIAL RECOVERY LAW FIRM, TO
ASSIST THE CITY WITH ITS FINANCIAL RECOVERY AND
TO BRING BACK A REPORT OR AN AGREEMENT
RETAINING THE FIRM FOR FINANCIAL RECOVERY
SERVICES; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF
RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City of Opa-locka is experiencing a financial challenge and
is in need of assistance with a financial recovery plan; and
WHEREAS, The firm of Genovese Joblove and Battista, P.A. present to have
significant experience in the area of financial recovery; and
WHEREAS, The City Commission finds that it is in its best interest to pursue
an engagement with Genovese Joblove and Battista, P.A.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission hereby directs the City Manager and the City
Attorney to conduct a feasibility in retaining Genovese Joblove and Batttista,
P.A., to assist the City with its financial recovery and to bring back an
agreement or report of its efforts within fourteen (14) days of the study.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

Short Title:

Joblove and Battista, P.A. to assist the City with its financial recovery and bring back an agreement or

Staff Summary:
The City of Opa-locka is experiencing financial challenges. The firm of Genovese Joblove and Battista, P.A. has
advised that they have experience in the area of financial recovery and have offered their services. While securing
the firms services will be an un-budgeted expense, staff will meet to determine a scope of work and, if a scope of
work can be developed, bring the agreement back to City Commission for consideration or report on our efforts
within fourteen (14) days.
