Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.00-38
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING RESIGNATION AND FILLING
VACANCY IN CITY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, John Hamilton was duly elected to the Medina city council in November,
1996 for a term commencing on the first business day of January 1997 and terminating on the first
business day of January 2001; and
WHEREAS, John Hamilton has tendered his resignation from the city council effective at
12:01 a.m. on August 1, 2000, due to termination of his residency in the city; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Minnesota Statutes §412.02, the city council has
determined to appoint a resident to fill the vacancy created by said resignation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina,
Minnesota, as follows:
1. John Hamilton's letter of resignation from the city council is hereby accepted.
2. James Lane is hereby appointed to fill the unexpired term of the city council seat
vacated by the resignation of John Hamilton.

The motion for the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Zietlow and upon vote
being taken thereon, the following members voted in favor thereof:
Ferris, Johnson, Lane, Smith, and Zietlow
and the following members voted against same: None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly adopted.
