RESOLUTION NO. 16-9153
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISISON OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,
FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO SEEK GRANT FUNDING
FOR A VICTIM'S ADVOCATE POSITION FOR THE OPA-LOCKA POLICE
DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City Commission of the City Opa-locka, Florida, finds that
there is need a for victim's advocate for the Opa-locka Police Department to assist
individuals and families that are victims of violent crimes in the City; and
WHEREAS, The victim's advocate would assist the Opa-locka Police
Department with identifying resources for individuals and families impacted by
violent crimes; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the
City to incorporate this position into the police department in an effort to further aid
victims and their families.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference;
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to seek grant funding to
establish a victim's advocate position within the City of Opa-Locka Police
Department and to report back to this Commission on the efforts thereof within
sixty (60) days of this resolution.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
