All cour.ses of study must have prior approval by the department head and City Manager in order to receive premium credit, , Accredited schools are herein defined as colleges, junior colleges or universities or such other institutions as may be approved by the City Manager. Suitable written certification from the school showing satis- factor.y completion of each course shall be submitted to the Personnel Officer for personnel records, Premium pay will commence the first pay period after the first o£ the month following the submission of the written certification, The City will contribute 50% of the cost o£ tuition where the cost of such tuition exceeds the sum of $10,00 per semester course while the employee is accruing the $20>00 per month maximum premium pay, The .provisions of this section do not apply to hourly employees or employees undertaking an approved course between the hours of 8t00 a„m, and 5s00 pom., Mondays through Fridays. Section 6.
