HomeMy Public PortalAbout2000-047 Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ordinance No. 322 by Title and Summary109 Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.00-47 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 322 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 322, an interim ordinance establishing and extending moratoria on development within specified areas of the community until the City has had an opportunity to complete amendments to its official controls consistent with its recently adopted and approved comprehensive plan; and WHEREAS, the interim ordinance is lengthy and contains a map; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the interim ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the City of Medina that the city clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 322 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 322. The ordinance is an interim ordinance which extends the previous moratoria on development within the areas of the community designed as urban commercial, urban commercial-1, rural commercial holding and uptown Hamel. One previous moratorium had also applied to a buffer zone extending 1000 feet into residential areas adjacent to urban commercial and urban commercial-1 areas. The buffer area has now been reduced to 100 feet and development restrictions apply only within the buffer zone. A small parcel designated multifamily residential near uptown Hamel has been added to the moratorium. The interim ordinance will allow the City an opportunity to continue its review of its official controls, including its zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations, and to make amendments necessary for consistency with the City's new comprehensive plan. The moratorium will be in effect until April 3, 2001. The full text of Ordinance No. 322 is available at Medina city hall during regular business hours.
