RESOLUTION NO. 16-9162
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (EXHIBIT "A")
WITH FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY; PROVIDING
FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City of Opa-locka, Florida and Florida National University
desire to provide educational opportunities and assistance to City employees and
their immediate families; and
WHEREAS, Florida National University will provide scholarship
opportunities to city employees and their immediate families; and
WHEREAS, The City will not be required to expend any funds, but will be
required to inform its employees of the benefits of the partnership.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference;
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute
the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the City of Opa-locka, Florida, in
substantially the same form as attached in EXHIBIT "A."
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

Memorandum of Understanding

This is an agreement between
Florida National University & The Great City of OPA-LOCKA
I. Purpose and Scope
The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to clearly identify
the roles and responsibilities of each party as they relate to providing education,
training and services.
The agreement is intended to offer Associates, Bachelors and Master degrees,
as well as, Certificates, Diplomas and an array of services as appropriate to each
party.
II. MOU Term
Either party can terminate this agreement at their discretion at any time.
Ill. Florida National University Responsibilities
Florida National University shall undertake the following activities:
1. Florida National University will offer a 20% corporate reduction off the tuition
cost of the program to The Great City of OPA-LOCKA employees who desires
to pursue a program on campus or online.
2. The Great City of OPA-LOCKA employees will have the opportunity to
participate in this corporate reduction for as long as they are employed by The
Great City of OPA-LOCKA.
3. The Great City of OPA-LOCKA employees family member will also have an
opportunity to participate in this corporate reduction by receiving a 15%
reduction provided employee shows current proof of employment with The
Great City of OPA-LOCKA.
4. Florida National University will add The Great City of OPA-LOCKA to our
partnership website.
5. Florida National University will create a link with The Great City of OPA-
LOCKA logo on the Florida National University Website.

IV. The Great City of OPA-LOCKA Responsibilities
The Great City of OPA-LOCKA shall undertake the following activities:
1. The Great City of OPA-LOCKA will inform its employees and members of the
option to pursue an education at Florida National University and apply for a
corporate rate, scholarship, grant or financial Aid.
2. The Great City of OPA-LOCKA will provide proof of employment to Florida
National University for the applying employee. For example, company
paystubs will be sufficient.
3. The Great City of OPA-LOCKA will allow Florida National University to set up
an educational information tables.
V. Effective Date and Signature
This MOU shall be effective upon the signature of Florida National University and
The Great City of OPA-LOCKA authorized officials.
