RESOLUTION NO. 16-9164
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA NAMING THE
FOOTBALL FIELD AT INGRAM PARK IN HONOR OF
ANDRE' JOHNSON; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION
OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Andre' Johnson was reared in Opa-locka; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson began his football career at Ingram Park in Opa-
Locka; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson played for thirteen (13) years as a professional
football player with the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts, and is projected to
be a future inductee in the Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Andre' Johnson has earned numerous awards during his
career, including 7 times Pro Bowl Selection, 3 times NFL Alumni Wide Receiver of
the Year, 5 times Houston Texans' Most Valuable Player, and the City Commission
believes it is in the best interest of the City to acknowledge his accomplishments by
naming the football field at Ingram Park after him.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED THAT THE CITY
COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF OPA LOCAK, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka, Florida, hereby
names the football field at Ingram Park in honor of and after Mr. Andre'
Johnson.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9t" day of March, 2016.
