A GENERAL ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 74 OF THE CITY
RICHMOND CODE
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond is currently involved in a project renovating uptown
Richmond; and
WHEREAS, said project has included the revision of Chapter 74 of the City of
Richmond Code as it relates to parking in the uptown area, specifically in both existing and newly constructed parking lots; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to continuously improve the uptown area, the City of
Richmond has continued to encourage and receive feedback regarding parking issues in the uptown area; and
WHEREAS, this feedback has been compiled and considered by the Off-Street Parking Committee which was established to explore the availability, costs, and time limits of available parking
in the uptown; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has recommended certain changes; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana
has approved the proposed changes in accordance with Indiana Code 36-9-11-7 (Resolution No. 3-1998).
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows:
1. Section 74.47(b)(9) of the City of Richmond Code shall be amended to read as follows:
9. North 6th Street Lot (“American Legion” Lot)
a. Parking available with monthly parking pass only. Monthly pass, $10.00
2. A new Section 74.47(j) will be added to the City of Richmond Code to read as follows:
“The number and location of reserved spaces within any off-street parking facility shall be designated by the City Clerk. The City Clerk is also hereby delegated the authority to impose
any reasonable regulation in any off-street parking facility as may be necessary for the efficient operation thereof.”
3. This ordinance shall take effect upon passage.
Passed and adopted this 2nd day of February, 1998, by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
