RESOLUTION NO. 16-9168
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO CONDUCT A FEASIBILITY STUDY ON
NEIGHBORS AND NEIGHBORS ASSOCIATION, INC.
(NANA) WORKING WITH THE CITY TO ADDRESS
SMALL BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AND INITIATE AN
INCUBATOR SYSTEM, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City Commission desires to expand the role and profitability
of small businesses in its economy; and
WHEREAS, The City Commission believes that a small business incubator
program would be able to assist in its efforts regarding small businesses; and
WHEREAS, Neighbors And Neighbors Association has a very successful
history of improving the development and growth of small businesses in Miami-
Dade County's predominately African-American communities; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes it to be in its best interest to
explore the feasibility of a NANA partnership with the City of Opa-locka.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference;
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to conduct a feasibility study
on having Neighbors And Neighbors Association work with the City to
address small business opportunities and an incubator system.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
